Loafing - Day 1 - England

Blogging at 21:00 on Tuesday 22nd October from intended overnighting spot:

Trying to make the most of a weather window, so out and about in the East Riding, seeing what I can see.

Things to remember:
  • North Cave Wetlands was the first port of call. Nothing special but good signs of winter visitors arriving. A single common Sandpiper was the most notable sighting.
  • Stone Creek was good for the usual stuff, plus a few grey plover, a couple of bar-tailed godwits, thousands of golden plover and a kingfisher. Did a plodding run up the Humber and got hammered by clouds of vicious mosquitoes.
  • Currently at Outstray Farm where I'm hoping to kip. The reserve here is taking shape and the area makes for easy pickings. Saw loads of brown hares, a barn owl, a great-white egret, and had a really close hen harrier sighting within the first ten minutes of arriving.
