Knoydart Trip - Day 7 - England

Things to remember:
  • Just a fantastic camp last night and General Wade's Military Road is definitely worth some further reading.
  • The trip back down Scotland once south of the Perth area was predictably mundane and also bizarrely congested. Early Sunday afternoons just never used to be so ridiculously rammed.
  • Decided to ponce around in the very southeast of Scotland before crossing the border but, didn't find much of interest.
  • Once over the border I visited a few birding sites I know around Lindisfarne and spent a couple of hours wandering about with bins and scope. Best sightings were hundreds of Brent geese, bar-tailed godwits, grey plover and hundreds of grey seals seemingly in some sort of territorial display. They were very (and largely equally) spaced out, and each had their head above water. Many were making doleful noises, too. It was all a bit eerie.
  • Making the best of a road closure in the hope of a peaceful camp. Seen some farmland birds and many brown hares from here.
  • Guess that's about it. Though I've ticked off the Small Isles and Knoydart, I still haven't seen a flippin' basking shark...
