Reivers Trip - Day 1 - England

Blogging at 21:30 on Thursday 23rd July from N 54.28742°, W 00.97489° / http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:54.28742%2C-00.97489

Well, we're finally under way again. It's been the longest time during ownership of the lorry that we haven't used it in anger. A series of totally unforeseeable events, not least Covid 19, mean that it's almost a year since our weary return from Albania.

Albania this ain't, just north of Kirkbymoorside it is. Nonetheless, it's grand to be back out.

There is no master plan other than to have a bumble up to an area to the west of the Scottish Borders that looks, on the map at least, to be the kind of place we'd enjoy. These are odd times; this is an odd trip.

We've spent quite a bit of time in the surrounding Scottish counties, but never really stopped to look at this particular area in its own right. it's Reiver country - where for centuries families of bandits both sides of the border would raid one another in a perpetual thieving spree. I have quiet hopes that (these days) it'll be something of an un-peopled jewel

At the coordinates shown at the moment where we're going to kip. Stayed here before, it's nice. Planning a gravel-bike ride up the Cleveland Way tomorrow to help bed us in
