Heading for Ben Nevis with Stu. We're about an hour and a half short so it'll be an early start tomorrow.
We're hunkered on a bit of spare land to the side of a tiny single track, we arrived here about 4.30pm. I was going to push on to Glencoe but was pretty bushed after about seven hours of driving.
England was pretty murky but as soon as we crossed into the Borders the sun burned through and its been a bit of a roaster this afternoon.
For the first couple of hours after arriving we walked a bit, played with quack-quack and then just loafed in the sun watching bits and bobs of birdlife - plus the world generally - going by.
Saw a hooded crow bombing an in-flight buzzard and then turn its attention to a kestrel. The kestrel wheeled up to a good height and then bombed the crow. A bit of a dogfight ensued before the crow went back to hassling the altogether-couldn't-care-less buzzard. Crows are just scuffers: they have nothing to do so loaf around making noise just waiting for opportunities to swipe things and cause upset.
Later evening saw a small herd of red deer appear towards the top of the hills I'm beneath including a couple of mult-pointer stags. Won't be long before they're mortally battling to pass on genes. That Darwin bloke has a lot to answer for.
Stu just had a big tea and I'm about to talk him through what's expected of him tomorrow.
