Hauts-de-France Trip - Day 3 - France

Blogging at 21:00 on Friday 29th December from intended overnighting spot N 50.58957°, E 01.61949° / http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:50.58957%2C01.61949

Things to remember:
  • Last night's camp was so dark and quiet (apart from wind and rain) that it was genuinely spooky.
  • Found, by chance, an excellent place for gulls - and to run - on the river Liane to the south of Boulogne-sur-Mer. Saw two med gulls there as well as stacks of other spp.
  • Visited the war grave of my probable relative Walter Wigglesworth. Killed in action in 1918 aged 23.
  • Found another excellent gull feeding/rest spot on some agricultural land near a wind farm close to tonight's intended overnighting spot. I would have slept there but the gales on the slightly elevated and exposed land there were just hideous.
  • The intended overnighting spot is in the outskirts of a small town and hunkered up in the lee of an electricity building of some sort. So far it's been silent, apart from the (ubiquitous) wind and rain.
