Emma ran 1st thing while I did man-jobs.
After a mid-morning start we only drove for about an hour before making it as far as the southernmost point of Scotland at the Mull of Galloway. The precarious southern tip of the peninsula hosts only an RSPB reserve, a cafe and a lighthouse. There are open sea views to 3 sides and we've basically spent the whole day dutifully viewing the open ocean.
It's been quite some spectacle and amongst the things we've seen have been: common porpoise, black guillemot, kittiwake, fulmar, gannet, stonechat, wheatear, common guillemot, peregrine falcon and a host of more readily seen / already seen birds.
Sighting of the day was a grey seal that surfaced with an octopus in its mouth, rolled on its back, and swallowed the thing whole.
Just us here now with the regular flash of the lighthouse and a raw sea breeze for company.
