Wind howled throughout the night on the end of the peninsula, it moved the truck around quite a bit, glad we weren't in a tent.
First attraction of the day was a desolate and isolated church famous for housing some ancient 5th century carved stones believed to be some of the oldest Christian inscriptions of their type. The stones themselves have been removed for restoration but the churchyard was impressive nonetheless with some cool olde English inscriptions on tombstones going back to the 1700s.
From there we headed inland and aimed for a very isolated road that cuts through some higher ground and incorporates another forest drive. This one wasn't as impressive as the first but was still achingly pretty in places. The are supposed to be golden eagles and black grouse but we saw none. Did see a red kite though so no complaints.
We've set up camp 3 times tonight. The two we ended up rejecting were perfectly fine in their own right but were pretty exposed and though the weather is warm and dry the wind is again incredibly strong and we were taking a battering. The second camp was also just off a forest track but we were being hammered by mini cyclones and getting everything covered in a fine white dust.
The place we have settled on overlooks a loch which looks splendid in the evening sunlight - not much about though.
I did a brick training session today whilst Emma dozed. Payback for her mammoth run yesterday whilst I claimed to do man-jobs which, in truth, consisted of having a quick look at the truck, spraying a bit of WD40 around, and mainly eating sweets.
