Inner Hebrides Trip - Day 13 - Scotland

Things to remember:
  • Bit of bird / sea watching on Bute first thing, but nothing unusual.
  • Bute's parkrun was set entirely within the grounds of Mount Stuart's castle / stately home; and what an impressive venue it is. It must take dozens of full-time staff to keep things as they are.
  • The run itself was an undulating trail run affair with the last kilometre or so uphill. Did OK in spite of being battered and bruised. Ribs hurting now, though.
  • Ferry across the Firth of Clyde threw up a few unexpected porpoises.
  • Covered ground to where I am now and intending to overnight. Been here before, it overlooks the Solway Firth (pic). Unexpected sightings of a solitary avocet, male eiders and a pair of pink-footed geese. Not sure if those were late setting off or have chosen to stay.
  • Trip now done, apart from the drive back.
  • Unfinished business with basking sharks and the Knoydart peninsula...
