Hauts-de-France Trip - Day 5 - France

Blogging at 21:00 on Sunday 31st December from intended overnighting spot N 49.46545°, E 00.45568° / http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:49.46545%2C00.45568

Things to remember:
  • It was an excellent camp last night but I slept poorly as gales and driving rain again played havoc with the camper all night.
  • Ran first thing around the gravel pits and adjoining beach / dunes. In spite of wind and a couple of heavy showers it was grand.
  • Gales continued all day making progress heavy on fuel and, at times, tricky.
  • Enjoyed the omnipresent civic pride and saw some particularly good roundabout art and water tower paintings.
  • Noticed something quite bizarre: dozens of towns and villages had their name signs mounted upside down. Never seen this before and assume it may be a new-year custom?*
  • Was dreading the passage over the Tancarville bridge over The Seine in the gales but it wasn't, in reality, all that scary.
  • Did that thing having crossed the bridge where I spotted a random gravel track that went up the side of The Seine so I followed it. It now seems to be home for the night.
  • From here watched gulls making a nonsense of the winds over the river and also saw a potential wild boar / coypu running over an arable field following some gunshot.
