I've been to Tom's grave, been to his memorial on Mont Ventoux, so it seemed only right to doff my cap at his local memorial, too.
Before this point in the day I'd had an early morning walk into the eastern hemisphere and enjoyed the nip-in-the-air sunshine right out at Outstrays Point (pic) It's a cracking if nearly always bracing spot, a bit like Spurn but without zillions of people milling around.
Once again it termed with birdlife. Best today were yet another short-eared owl, a few dozen straggling Brent geese and my first-of-the-year cuckoo sighting. It also obliged with a weary, just-arrived "cuckoo'. The reed-based passerines looked markedly nervous...
