This morning was spent pootling back down through the North Pennines, another incredibly pretty and equally incredibly quiet part of the country. A bonus was a red squirrel sighting as it bounced - as they do - across the road in front of the truck. We've spent a few days out in the North Pennines before and only at one or two towns, and at High Force waterfall, have we seen any kind of tourism-based log-jams.
Given that most are having to holiday in the UK and that it's well and truly high season, altogether the plan to eek out un-peopled areas worked pretty well.
Heading back for bike repairs now - planning to be out again fairly soon.
