The weather was much better this morning so we got cracking straight away with a spectacular ride through and around Langdale and Broxa forests. Most of the ride was off-road on gravel and tracks (pic) and all of it lumpy. The scenery was stunning and the birdlife pretty good, too. Cuckoos and siskins were the most notable.
Whilst out on the bikes, we spotted a really nice potential stopover and that's now where we find ourselves as I type (coordinates). It's spectacularly quiet and pretty, and as good a place as any to while away an evening. Nothing unexpected bird-wise apart from the oddity of a tawny calling occasionally from mid-afternoon onwards.
