Early start and a twisty drive of over a hour to get to where I am now - and I can clearly see with the naked eye where I kipped last night, it's about 2 miles away as the crow flies.

It's my first time at Alkborough flats, a newly forming wetland thanks to the Humber reclaiming it as flood plain in 2006.

Teeming with birds and a fantastic viewpoint overlooking Trent Falls one way and the Humber Bridge the other.

Best birds were avocet, pintail, black-tailed godwit, whoopers, and ruff. The geese skeins and golden plover flocks are never ending. Very cool spot.

Pic is of the village from the wetland. Truck might just be visible on left horizon.
