Dorset Trip - Day 5

N 50.66915°, W 02.08064°

Emma 'persuaded' me that we should do the Christmas day parkrun at Poole. So that happened. She enjoyed it, I suffered horribly. Too many pies and no hard efforts for nearly three months took their toll.

At least the rest of the day has been better. We've spent it bumbling around the heaths and coasts of the Isle of Purbeck, which thoroughly deserves its numerous NNR designations. Just ten minutes near the Studland coast threw up sanderling, bar-tailed godwit, ringed plover, redshank, curlew and grey plover, as well as the usual gulls and wildfowl.

We've had a few jaunts out on the heaths and beach, all of which the whippet greatly appreciated.

Camped at the co-ordinates shown, which is super-peaceful and has just awesome views over the distant but still incredibly imposing Corfe Castle. The Castle is currently lit against dark and foreboding skies and is a genuine spectacle.
