The geese were amazing this morning with thousands all around us.
We made the most of Solway by driving a few miles from the overnighting spot to another place I know right on the South side of the Firth very close to the start of Hadrian's wall.
We had a pleasant walk in the sunshine and spotted even more awesome birdlife including the most curlews I've ever seen in one place and a red-breasted merganser.
Emma wasn't quite as absorbed by the birdlife but did become ever so slightly obsessed by being able to cob rocks into the estuary from a particular grassy mound.
Emma is 43.
After reluctantly leaving the area (having failed to reach the water) we just covered ground up the A76 until we were able to bale into the Clyde-Muirshiel regional park to find tonight's camp. It's bleak but pretty and seems really unpeopled. It's howling up here: good job the truck's weathertight and toasty.
Met a birder at our overnighting spot (coordinates) who was looking for capercaillie (without success).
Managed a ride on my new-build go-anywhere-quite-fast bike and am enjoying it. I should have built one of these years ago.
