Went to Faxfleet first and it was teeming. Humber island near mouth of Market Weighton canal was awesome. Best sightings around the area generally were 200 pink-footed geese, a dozen barnacle geese, stacks of marsh harriers and my first fieldfares of the year. Also saw a huge dragonfly on the wing; need to work out species later.
After Faxfleet did Paull Holme Strays which was pretty quiet as the tide was out, plenty of curlews and a murmuration of about 2000 golden plovers though.
At Stone Creek now as per coordinates. Usual stuff here but tide out so everything miles away and hard to see. I've been here maybe ten times now and have yet to see anyone anywhere near any of the boats moored here. It's an odd place.
All around the river there's a real sense of stuff on the move, waders, geese and passerines on the wing almost permanently. Never ceases to amaze me how far some of this stuff has come.
