Things to remember:
- Ferry over to Coll was pan flat. Many excellent sightings including porpoises, puffins and a minke whale!
- Within 30 minutes of arriving I was listening to about 10 corncakes calling from nettle beds and field margins at Totronald RSPB reserve. Couldn't see any, though.
- Went for a couple of longish walks in spite of searing heat.
- Birdlife is teeming at the moment. Most notable sightings being: hen harrier, whimbrel, a sandpiper of some description, and a pair of great skuas. Might have spotted twite, too but uncertain.
- Did a very pleasant late afternoon / early evening bike ride. Roads surfaces are often bumpy and have the telltale central vegetation strip.
- Stayed on my first official 'campsite' in about 15 years. It's a requirement here but, to be fair, I'm alone and it's quiet (pic).
- Couldn't find time to do my usual evening things: constantly distracted by the view from the camper of literally hundreds of dolphins and another minke whale. Not to mention divers and terns etc.
- Coll has so far proved very quiet, peaceful and a real gem.
