Blogging at 21:00 on Tuesday 14th May from intended overnighting spot N 56.39997°, W 05.42301° / http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:56.39997%2C-05.42301
Things to remember:
- Rain and more rain overnight last night and then a very misty and soggy start to the day.
- More evidence of tourism impacts around the Trossachs area (pic).
- Parked in Balquhidder soon after setting off and had a really enjoyable - if soaking wet - run along Loch Voil. Proper cloud forest ancient woodland stuff; dripping in lichens, with stunning carpets of bluebells.
- Slow and meandering bumble to Oban included the (very) tiny back road through Glen Lonan. Encountered some truly stunning Bonsai-style landscapes. Awesome.
- Tea stop alongside the Sound of Kerrera near Oban. Saw great-northern and red-throated divers.
- Excellent but distant sighting of a male black grouse displaying from the intended overnighting spot.
