Inner Hebrides Trip - Day 2 - Scotland

Things to remember:
  • Rain and more rain overnight last night and then a very misty and soggy start to the day.
  • More evidence of tourism impacts around the Trossachs area (pic).
  • Parked in Balquhidder soon after setting off and had a really enjoyable - if soaking wet - run along Loch Voil. Proper cloud forest ancient woodland stuff; dripping in lichens, with stunning carpets of bluebells.
  • Slow and meandering bumble to Oban included the (very) tiny back road through Glen Lonan. Encountered some truly stunning Bonsai-style landscapes. Awesome.
  • Tea stop alongside the Sound of Kerrera near Oban. Saw great-northern and red-throated divers.
  • Excellent but distant sighting of a male black grouse displaying from the intended overnighting spot.
