Things to remember:
  • Pleasant drives through parts of Dumfrieshire that are almost certainly rarely touristed.
  • Newtonairds Lodge is pretty impressive at £180,000.
  • Merlin, whooper swan and black-tailed godwits all randomly encountered whilst just bumbling about.
  • Birdlife around the Solway is just awesome.
  • Thousands of geese, wildfowl, gulls and waders came in to roost on the mudflats and saltmarsh in sight of our overnighting spot (coordinates).
